String Trio (Op. 23)

for String Trio

Year of Composition: 2023
Duration: 33 minutes
Premiere: TO BE ANNOUNCED

Composer's Notes:

Notably dedicted to my former English teacher Mr Adam Simmonds, and to my composition teacher Jacques Cohen. A string trio in three movements, each contrasting in form and mood, but similar in style, theme and message. Heavily inspired by Shostakovich Piano Trio No. 1, which I was listening to and learning around the time of writing this Trio. Collectively, a nostalgic love letter to the music of the 20th century, yet still more personal than anything I've written before. In a sense, an culmination of my work at the Purcell School, and a note of appreciation to the school, and everything that it's provided to me.
